Open MetalCast update

Posted by craig  Published in Site Information

Posted the second episode of Open MetalCast (Available from fine websites everywhere, as long as they’re this site). Hope you enjoy this episode. This one was fun because I did some exploring looking for music for the latest Lococast episode and got into some pretty deep recesses of Jamendo. All of the artists on this [...]

Python Object Oriented Programming – Sneak Peek

Posted by craig  Published in Reviews

I’ll be reviewing a book for Packt Publishing shortly. The book is Python 3 Object Oriented Programming, and I’m looking forward to getting a more formalized overview of Python Classes (rather than my rather informal introduction. ). Here’s a sneak peek at chapter 7 from the book.

Fiction Book Reviews

Posted by craig  Published in Reviews

One of the side-effects of being laid off is that I generally pick up something to while away the time. The last time that I was laid off, I started getting horribly addicted to watching Jerry Springer. This time around, I’ve taken to reading fiction books (as well as computer books). I’ve read more books [...]

Review: Expert Python Programming

Posted by craig  Published in Reviews

(Disclaimer: I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher). There’s a healthy market of books describing the basics of programming and programming languages. Posted by craig  Published in Computers, Rants

I recently unsubscribed from the Kobo mailing list. I just realized that I’m getting mail for something that I am unable to use. They have a selection for reasons for unsubscribing, with a selection for “Other…” which allowed me to type in the following: I no longer have the Macintosh machine that I used to [...]

"God is going to bless you so hard"

Posted by craig  Published in A day in the life, Rants

Got a charity call this evening. Man on the other end asks me how I’m doing. I tell him “This had better not be a charity call, or you can take my name off your list”. Man replies “God is going to bless you so hard”. I respond “And he’s going to hit you with [...]

Another chapter closed

Posted by craig  Published in A day in the life

This morning I learned that I was one of the members of Geeknet that was being let go in this series of layoffs. While the words stung just a hair, I can honestly say that I’m ready to move on. Geeknet was an amazing company to work for, and I’m grateful for the opportunities that [...]

  • Have acquired my lead-filled jelly donut for the year. Don't think I could eat more than one a year. :)
  • Where we're going, we need no downbeat. Open Metalcast 41 shows you the way: http://ur1.ca/8aaix !openmetalcast
  • @greg They're all awesome until you make a claim. Then they'll bury your honey-covered ass in a fire-ant hill.
  • Neat idea. Loved using it during PyOhio. What really rocked though was the after-conference conversation. Oh well.
  • Interesting to note that SACD and DVD Audio have heightened copy protection schemes, and no market penetration to speak of.
