Looks like Microsoft finally settled with AOL over the anti-trust case brought up by Netscape. Slashdot article is here. I’m not sure what to make of it. Arjun and many other people feel it’s Microsoft taking advantage of the weak position of Time/Warner to finally put their tentacles into AIM, AOL, and Netscape, and squealch out competition. I’m not convinced yet. Microsoft and AOL have always had a tenuous relationship, and I think we’ll be hearing more about this. What this means for Mozilla and Gecko-based browsers is really up in the air, but I’m confident that even if Microsoft turns AOL to Internet Explorer, someone (possibly IBM) will continue to develop Mozilla full time.
