I forgot to mention that the hallway leading up to our hotel rooms was rank with smoke. I'm not talking a little whiff here and there, I'm talking employee breakroom rank. Not only were the patrons partaking in the tobacco herb, but we were also around the corner from the maintenance closet, in which they were talking part in all things tobacco and likely non-tobacco. I think the reason the smoking rooms were passable was because they used some form of air freshening device which was a sort of cancelling wave for the smoke scent. It was not pleasent or anything of the sort, but made the experience of not smelling smoke that much more pleasent, sort of like white noise compared with the noise of construction right outside the window. It's not great, just different.
