Here's a reason to try for success all the time.

According to Reuters, a gentleman in Germany tried to kill himself by jumping in front of a train. Unfortunately (or fortunately) he miscalculated, and instead jumped through the window of the engine room, and damaged the train. Now, you'd think this would make this guy want to jump for joy that he's still alive, and through his epiphany, he wants to do much better in his life. Unfortunately, if money troubles were part of the "kill yourself" equation, he just found about 4,200 euros worth of reasons to try a different route in offing himself. Munich municipal authorities sued for damages relating to damage to the train and lost wages for the driver.

So, aim for success in everything!
