Prayer vigil tonight for men injured in fireworks explosion
Can someone explain to me why these guys are deserving of a prayer vigil? Maybe I'm a bit jaded in my later years, but generally a prayer vigil is held for:
- Someone who was seriously injured or killed by circumstances outside their sphere of control, or
- Someone who is undergoing severe stress in their life as a result of something out of there sphere of control
These guys, though they are seriously injured, were injured while making fireworks inside of a closed shed. Circumstances were well within their control to say, minutes before, "hey, perhaps this is a really stupid idea, and we should rethink our strategy".
I feel for the loved ones who are trying to cope with piecing together their lives as a result of the actions of these men, but I'm thinking Darwin Award here, not prayer vigil. Maybe a prayer vigil for the families of these men would be more in order.
