Why?

Honestly, I think when directors decide to update the effects on their movies, they're pissing all over the accomplishments of their talented cast and crew. These guys did the best they could with what they had at the time. Does the space combat need to look better? No. Let the achievements of these folks live on without being destroyed by technological progress.
