Checking in for 2023-07-23:

  • Did some work on my Hearsay engine. I added the ability to do math calculations in the encounters. The syntax isn't quite to my liking (it exposes things like characters['you']['p_values']['passive_driven'] without a layer of abstraction but at least it does what it needs to do. Perhaps I can figure out a way to make it more aesthetically pleasing in the future but for now it works and offers way more than what I had originally intended. It essentially uses the Python eval module to do the calculations. It does try to limit the amount of things you can do in there to just mathematics on the characters dictionary but there's no guarantees that someone won't figure out some way of doing nasty things with it in the future. Welcome to the world of "Trust nobody".
  • It was weird not having my Pebble Watch on this morning. That said I didn't quite miss it. It reminds me of when I gave up the Palm. I had made the Palm devices part of my daily workflow but over time that workflow got more and more clunky to maintain. There's nothing wrong with the Pebble (indeed, it's likely the last smart watch I'll ever own or use) but it's pretty clear that its days of usefulness are numbered. I'll need to adapt. Already I'm thinking about how to better do notifications in case someone (read: JoDee) needs to get in contact with me in a hurry. I'm really, really bad about keeping my phone with me at all times, and (worse) the vibration unit on this phone isn't spectacular (it also doesn't help that I have neuropathy in my legs). Perhaps I just need to have the phone within my peripheral vision. I also have things like the various desktop applications that hopefully will get my attention. If it doesn't work then I'll figure something else out.
  • Still using tootstream as my daily social media driver, though I'm finding it a bit lacking in being able to post media. I'll need to rethink how that works.
  • I have an oncologist appointment with Dr. Jaiyesimi on Tuesday. Will need to figure out next steps now that the Lonsurf is in benefits limbo. Also wondering if I'll hear back from the liver doctor about ablation potential.
  • The keyboard experiment is working out well. I won't tell you explicitly where this post is being composed but I'm guessing you can piece things together.

That's all for now. More as I know it.
