Checking in for 2023-08-25:

  • Feeling a bit tired this morning, though it's a combination of the Lonsurf and the late-night storms that we've been having. Last night I also discovered that we had some water leaking right over the breaker box, which meant that we had some wet breakers. I don't think there's any actual damage but it's a little disconcerting to hear dripping next to your breaker-box. Highly not-recommended.
  • Still making progress on the Pepper&Carrot RPG. It's going slow but at least I'm making some progress with this.
  • Been reading through Stan Veit's History of the Personal Computer. Finding the writing a lot more breezy and interesting than Fire in the Valley if for no other reason than Fire in the Valley focuses too heavily on Altair and Apple. Sure, both of those companies were important to the birth of the personal computer (and one of them is still a going concern) but I'd rather read about the computers that didn't make it through the 1980s rather than a fellate-fest of Apple and Microsoft and how they were the chosen ones. Seriously, Atari gets mentioned more as a historical place that Jobs and Woz worked at more than as an actual computer company. Reminds me of the video game documentary where they christened the Sony PlayStation as first CD-ROM-based console. Had the 3DO or CD-I made more of a dent I'm sure they'd like a word. Anywho, it's nice to read something that isn't trying to make sure they still could have access to Steve Jobs after publication.
  • Getting the urge to do some solo RPG games. I think I need to just pick a system and run with it. Also thinking about designing a better solo system for Fate because the ones that are out there (save for Minimal Fate) are way too complex or feel like they miss the mark. Need to do some exploring.

That's all for now. More as I know it.
