Designing a Well Lived Life: Checking In (2023 October)

Checking in for October for my "Designing a Well-Lived Life" blogging. This is about making small changes during the year to make larger changes.

  • Release a storyworld into the wild: Still working on what this will look like. I need to make some notes for what this will be and what the main points I want to hit with this. Might take advantage of November being a "novel writing" month to tackle this.

  • Learn more programming for the Atari machines to get more comfortable creating for them: This has stalled as of late. I did put in some effort to tackle this but it kind of fizzled out on me. Part of this is being tired at night (when I tend to do my night-time experiments) and part of it is that this project has drawn on for a while with no clear goal in sight. I need to revisit this and give it the attention it deserves.

  • Finish up or hand-off the Pepper&Carrot RPG: Making progress on this with daily practice. That's been quite helpful.

  • Update the Pepper&Carrot Wiki: This has been in tandem with the work on the RPG.

  • Write / Blog more about what's going on: Been really pleased with the progress here. I've been blogging rather consistently.

  • Work on getting more healthy and as cancer-free as possible: Need to put more work into this. I've got some tools coming to help me with this.

  • Meditate: Not been as consistent with this as I would have liked. Need to work on this more.

  • Declutter, simplify, and focus on the essential: Still working on this. The colder months are when I'll be putting my full efforts into this. I'm hoping to have a clean basement by the end of this winter.

  • Relax my frustrations and be more accepting of things as they are: This one has been tough for me. I'm noticing when these feelings of frustration are coming up and giving myself space around them. It's definitely been challenging for me, but it's a great practice space.

  • Continue removing debt: Need to put renewed focus on this for many, many reasons.

  • Hang up my hangups - allow myself to be more creative and playful: This one has been a little challenging because of the tiredness that I've been experiencing and the sickness that I've had with my treatment. Hoping to give this more attention in the coming months.

I'm feeling more energized about the coming month. Let's see where this leads.
