Checking in for March for my "Designing a Well-Lived Life" blogging. This is about making small changes during the year to make larger changes.
Dropping expectations: This one is more tricky than I thought. I can say "Yeah, I dropping expectations" but I still have expectations of how I would like things to be. I've noticed this when I put my expectations on other folks (why are they behaving the way they're behaving?) so clearly I'm not dropping them as much as I should. Rather than get into a philosophical debate about the expectation of dropping expectations (Hello, Oroborus! Rawr!) I'll just leave this as "needs improvement".
Physical Health: I thought that working from home already wouldn't have affected my step count throughout the day while being shut in. Boy, was I mistaken. Yesterday my step count was under 2,000 steps according to my Pebble Watch. I need to take advantage of more breaks throughout the day and do some more walking.
Writing more: I've been mostly consistent with writing for the Pepper&Carrot RPG, but there have been a few days where I've felt compressed in my schedule. Part of this is getting up late. Hoping to improve this.
Programming more: I've started looking more into a programming practice, but (funnily enough) whenever I make a declaration that I'm learning something it pretty much deflates me wanting to do that. Perhaps it's the declaration that tricks my mind into thinking that it's done? Perhaps it's because I haven't made the commitment strong enough. Playing with this notion. Right now I'm working on learning C coding, but the past few days I've had meetings and subsequent tasks that arose from those meetings. Hmm.
Mindfulness: I've not been very mindful lately. Just paused to realize why that is. Yeah, now I know. Because the more you think about what is going on in the... yeah. Wow. Need to work more on this.
Decluttering: Getting the itch to do more decluttering, in part because we're home more. Also am reading "It's All Too Much" by Peter Walsh (yes, yes, I know. Blame Merlin Mann's recommendations on Back to Work). Expect this to get more attention this month.
Deeper work: I'm doing Pomodoro sessions, but still feel fragmented. See "Mindfulness" above. I think I'm finding myself wanting distractions throughout the day.
Getting out of debt: Making some progress with this. You wouldn't believe what not going to restaurants can do for your budget (Learn this one simple trick...), though I have been trying to support publishers and creators that have been hit by this.
March feels like the prelude to more interesting times. Will keep these in mind throughout the month of April.
