Thus far

It's been pretty busy over here so I haven't done a whole lot of blogging as of late. Figured I'd take a moment to just do an info-dump of what's happening so I can just get them off my mind and into the internet.

  • My next chemo round starts the week after Thanksgiving. It's been kind of nice not having to "be sick", even though I still have the cancer doing its thing. Having a break from doctors, appointments, and being whisked away at a moments notice feels "normal". I know it's not ever going to be normal again, but it at least allows me to let those things fade into the background.

  • I've been working on a project all this month. Not sure how far I'll get on it but it's definitely something I've been excited about for a long time. Going to unveil it near the end of the month, though I doubt it'll be actually finished until much later. There's a lot of work to do to make that happen.

  • I'm playing with Delta Chat, which is an excellent chat program. It uses email as its transport mechanism but that's where the similarities end. Apparently the interface was based on the Open Source version of Signal before it went closed source and it shows. There's a real polish to this program that makes it a joy to use. Hoping to get more folks excited about this.

  • Been working with getting "lit up" about my projects. It feels great to have stuff that actually excite me in my life and have the energy to work on them. I need to remember this the next time I'm in the doldrums and grasping for something to work on. Just pick something and get excited about it. I tend to overcomplicate this process greatly.

  • Focusing on the Atari line of computers and game systems has really made me excited about digging into these machines more. The Atari machines have always been my computer of choice so they've kept a place in my heart. What changed was removing a lot o the other distractions of other systems that I enjoyed but really didn't have the same pull as the Atari machines. It's like I've rekindled a love and admiration of not only these machines but the people who helped create them and the software that ran on them. It's a connection I've never had with any other company. I want to learn more and really get these machines to do things I could only dream of as a kid.

  • Still working on simplifying and decluttering. It's a slow process so I need to be more aware of the slowness and be OK with that. I've always been impatient for things to happen quickly. These things take time.

That's a quick round-up of what's going on over here. More to come as I know it.
